![]() 2007-11-20Injection molded tubes offer some options not available with extruded tubes, such as textured and embossed surfaces, inmold labeling, and integral closures (where the closure and tube body are molded in a single shot). The materials used to mold the tubes also allow for hot or warm filling. The closure and the dispensing opening can be freely designed and integrated into the body, thus eliminating the need for a traditional add-on standard closure, and the molded tubes are said to be compatible with existing tube filling/sealing filling lines. And, of course, an extrusion line for tubes is suitable for extrusion of tubes, and nothing more, whereas an injection molder could always remove his tube mold and use his machine for other applications. modplas.com
2007-11-17 Play and Learn with a Sandbox - Express ComputerA what-if analysis is done to test a visualized or projected scenariowhat will happen if we do X. It is akin to an experiment where the variables are fine tuned to see what the end result will be. Imagine a situation where the application or ERP system has gone live. Now you cannot tinker with the data to test and conduct various what-if analyses. When you receive a new upgrade or patch of your application, it is prudent to first test it in the sandbox rather then implement it directly on a live client. Such recklessness might otherwise cause your application to stall in the worst-case scenario. One cannot preempt problems without testing new code. It helps you gain confidence that the new code is going to be functional and will not cause any hiccups. www.expresscomputeronline.com
2007-11-14 Composites World Weekly - SPE announces finalists, winners for annual automotive innovations awards competitionMY Ford Escort/Mercury Lynx compact cars from Ford Motor Co. Description: As one of the first major underhood applications for engineering plastics, the radiator end cap broke ground for many future engine-compartment applications. The objectives for converting the application from aluminum to nylon were parts integration and cost reduction, weight reduction, and equal or better performance. It was particularly challenging to develop and test materials in hot ethylene glycol (antifreeze) solutions. DuPont developed new grades of its glass-reinforced nylon resin and tested prototypes in a jungle room with hot antifreeze running through the parts 24 hours a day. Mold design with movable cores, design for low part warpage, and multifunctional design were all partnered in this application among Ford
2007-11-19 Ringside Report "The Heart Of Boxing"At thirty-six years of age he fought like a man ten years younger; he fought his heart out. Using his speed, experience, athleticism, determination, and guile, Sugar gave the heretofore unstoppable, up and coming Cotto the fight of his life. In the process, Shane found himself in the most brutal contest of his hall of fame career, and was tested in ways in which he had never formerly been tested. To the surprise of many, he passed the test. The same can also be stated about Miguel Cotto, whose two toughest fights up to this point had come against Ricardo Torres and Zab Judah. In both of those encounters neither Torres nor Judah would be around to hear the final bell. On this night however, a knockout was not in the cards for the powerful Puerto Rican sensation. Though at one point, it did look possible. ringsidereport.com
2007-11-14 Democrat and Chronicle: EssaysThe solution to Rochesters long-term history of low student academic performance requires more than an experienced administrator who has worked in an urban environment to successfully raise test scores. It demands an individual who has a "break-the-mold" vision for educating Rochesters students, moral leadership skills, community support and the "guts" to take on the political, educational and governmental agencies that are, in many cases, unwittingly contributing to the education failure of our Rochester students. Calas actions demonstrate the courage and spirit a superintendent should possess for challenging government agencies who are treating students unfairly. And, what greater injustices are created for our students than those through "high-stakes" standardized testing, which both the federal governments NCLB and our own Board of Regents use to humiliate, degrade and coerce students, educators and school districts by publishing test results unfairly comparing poverty-stricken school districts, such as Rochesters, to wealthy school districts, such as Pittsford www.democratandchronicle.com The online edition of the Democrat and Chronicle newspaper in Rochester, N. 2007-11-05 Letters Those who mandate tests should take them, tooYou make a very good point. The testing procedures used now really dont say much for an individuals unique talents, and how those talents will reflect upon them in adulthood. I wonder how I would have scored had I been given these type of tests while in COLLEGE. You see I got As and Bs in Algebra, Trigonometry, etc. while in high school, and barely studied, but after waiting 8 years to go to college, I got only Cs in the same courses, and it wasnt for lack of trying. I studied 20+ hours a week outside of class to get through the same courses. I made it, but just barely. I would hate to think those courses had the potential to hold me back. I now have my Bachelors, and Im a Registered Nurse. Is it possible too many people in this country are saying, "do you want fries with that," because these tests dont allow room Is a publication of The Pantagraph, a newspaper in Bloomington, Illinois. - Illinois Central Illinois newspaper newspapers media news sports obituaries obits Bloomington-Normal Bloomington Normal IL B-N Twin Cities community Pantagraph
2007-11-27 Consumer Reports Cars Blog: Personal Picks: Small SUVsAnd with a V6 model you can tow 3,500 pounds if needed. The Honda CR-V is also niceits much improved over the previous model. For my tall frame, though, I was most comfortable in the Ford Escape, but the dated driveline and interior trim take it off my list. The new competitively priced Kia Sportage is also a worth a consideration; it has a very nice interior and delivers a competent ride and handling. Nissan has just come out with the Rogue, which will offer some fresh competition for these. We have our test model and will be putting it thorough its paces shortly. One other consideration: The new AWD Suzuki SX4 offers some stiff competition for fans of Subarus. I was comfortable in the SX4; its very well equipped, competitively priced and worth a look.

Tests were done in accordance with Standard Test Method for Hygroscopic Properties of Fire-Retardant Wood and Wood-Base Products (ASTM D 3201-86). The results showed that materials treated with a combination of BluWood and Hartindo AF21 showed significantly better results than those treated with another widely used fire retardant treatment (FRT), when compared to untreated lumber. 2007-12-01 Amador Ledger DispatchIn Meyers letter to A-TCAA, he closes with stating "visible mold growing in the classroom should be considered a health risk and controlled by eliminating the mold and conditions that support its growth. " He included information from the state Department of Health Services on molds and also gave the agency a list of private firms that test for mold and other indoor air pollutants. For some of the parents who have children enrolled in the program, the presence of mold is something theyve voiced concern over to site staff for longer than the three weeks since the inspection took place. Although, as of Wednesday, there were no official complaints of health problems as a result of the mold. www.ledger-dispatch.com
2007-11-29 Beast on the RampageThis new research on the failure of the starve the beast strategy certainly will not be the final word. The data are complex enough that others will offer new and perhaps even more ingenious methods to test the idea that tax cuts lead to spending cuts. What the Romers work has again affirmedirrefutably, I hopeis that it will not do in the twenty-first century to rely on faith-based policies. Real policies have real effects. These cannot be willed into a prefabricated mold, or forced there by sophistry. Indeed, the evidence is mounting that none of the rationalizations for unilateral tax cuts stands up to the evidence. There are facts out here on planet Earth. Hello
